Trippin' Blues Amsterdam

June 18-23, 2026, Amsterdam turns into a Blues dancing playground again. Trippin' Blues Amsterdam is back for six days of Blues dancing and live music in the heart of the city – and you get to design your own adventure!
You can pick anything from a single party night to the full shebang: 3–6 nights of dancing with live bands, 2 full days of workshops, and a Friday Exchange Day with our traditional boat tour through the canals and extra cultural activities.
~What is Trippin' Blues?~
Trippin' Blues Amsterdam is an international Blues dance festival that brings together dancers and music lovers from all over Europe (and beyond) for connection, improvisation and a lot of latenight shenanigans. It's organised by The Blues Joint and its volunteer crew, rooted in the local Amsterdam scene but with a very welcoming, international vibe.
You don't need previous experience to join – the festival is welcoming at all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced Blues connoisseurs. There are partystarters and beginnerfriendly options, so you can step into your first Blues dance or go deep into technique and musicality if you've been dancing for years.
~Parties and live music~
Across six nights you can dance (or listen) to live bands in some of Amsterdam's most atmospheric venues, including De Nieuwe Anita, Kompaszaal and De VerbroederIJ.
The lineup includes New Orleansflavoured Gumbo Night Blues Band, tight modern Blues with BluesShack, the highenergy Martijn Schok Boogie & Blues Band, Amsterdam locals Jerome & Danny de Vijlder, the local JAM Collective, Slaphead Stephens, and a Participants Open Stage to close the week. Some nights are big, highenergy parties with large bands and latenight DJs, others are more intimate and cozy, perfect for slow drags and deep listening.
You can get a party pass for the main nights or cherrypick single evenings – ideal if you're local or just dipping into the festival around your work or travel schedule.
~Workshops and tracks~
If you want to learn, there are 2 days of workshops offering 5 or 10 hours of classes from international teachers and local heroes. Such as Lisa & Fabien, Nico & Alina, Mike Sonder, and local heroes Elise Reilingh and Chris Koren.
With six tracks – Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced, partnered special topics, Solo and a Cabaret track – you can tailor your schedule to your level, your energy and the topics that excite you most. Workshops cover everything from fundamentals and technique to musicality, creativity and performance, with sessions designed so you can combine one or two tracks without schedule clashes.
~Friday Exchange Day~
On Friday there's a cultural Exchange Day, built around the traditional Blues boat tour through the canals of Amsterdam with live music on board. Most activities that day are free for festival pass holders; only the boat and certain extras need tickets and signups. It's a chance to see the city from the water, hang out with dancers in a more relaxed way and enjoy Amsterdam beyond the dance floor.
